Numbers have words too

You can write a number two ways. You can write the digit, like 3. Or you can write the word, like three. They mean the same thing!

Let's learn the number words from one to ten.

Number word mat

Here is your word mat. Each word has its digit:

• one — 1 ☝️
• two — 2 ✌️
• three — 3
• four — 4
• five — 5 ✋
• six — 6
• seven — 7
• eight — 8
• nine — 9
• ten — 10 🙌

Point to each word. Say it out loud. Then show the number with your fingers!

Say them in order

Let's say the number words in order:

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten

Can you count with me? Hold up a finger for each word.

Word and digit

Each word has a matching digit. Look:

Word	Digit
one	1
two	2
three	3
four	4
five	5

When you see five, you can write 5. When you see 2, you can say two!
