Time to play!

The playground is full of games. They are great for running, jumping, and making friends. 🛝

Let's learn three favorite games.

Tag

In tag, one player is "it". They chase the others.

• The player who is "it" tries to gently touch someone.
• When they touch you, now you are "it"!
• Then you chase everyone else.

Run, dodge, and laugh. Always touch softly and watch where you run.

Hide-and-seek

In hide-and-seek, one player is the seeker.

1. The seeker closes their eyes and counts: "One, two, three..."
2. Everyone else hides.
3. The seeker shouts "Ready or not, here I come!" and looks for you.

Hide in a safe spot. Stay quiet and try not to giggle!

Hopscotch

For hopscotch, draw numbered squares on the ground with chalk.

• Toss a small stone onto a square.
• Hop over that square.
• Hop on one foot on single squares and two feet on side-by-side squares.
• Hop to the end and back!

Hopscotch helps you balance and jump. It takes practice, so keep trying!

What's the time, Mr Wolf?

Here is one more fun game. One player is the wolf and stands with their back to the others.

1. Everyone calls out, "What's the time, Mr Wolf?"
2. The wolf says a time, like "Three o'clock", and everyone takes that many steps closer.
3. But if the wolf shouts "Dinner time!", they turn and chase everyone back to the start!

It is silly and exciting. Run fast!

Play kindly and safely

The best games are kind games. Remember to:

• Take turns so everyone gets a go.
• Share the space and the toys.
• Help a friend who falls down.
• Watch where you run so you do not bump into others.
• Tell a grown-up if someone gets hurt.

When everyone is kind and careful, the playground is fun for all.
