Say it short

Make each sound short and clear. Say /s/ like a snake: sssss. Say /z/ like a bee: zzzzz. Say /p/ with a little puff of air.

Now try this. Point to your nose and say /n/. Look at the sun and say /s/. Stand tall like a tree and say /t/.

Find the sound

Look around your room. Can you find something that starts with /p/? Maybe a pencil! Can you find something with /w/? Maybe a window!

Play a game with a grown-up. They say a sound, and you say a word that starts with it. Then you say a sound, and they find a word.

Great job!

You now know the sounds from N to Z. Soon you can put sounds together to read whole words. Keep practising every day.
