Who and where?

Every story tells you who is in it and where it happens. The who are the characters. The where is the setting.

Characters 🧑🐶

Characters are the people or animals in a story. They do the things that happen.

Pip the puppy runs in the yard. Granny calls him for lunch. 🐶👵

Here the characters are Pip and Granny.

Look for describing clues 🔎

The words tell you what a character is like. Look for clue words!

These clues help you picture each character in your head.

Settings 🏰

The setting is where and when the story happens. It can be a park, a home, a beach or even space!

Mia builds a castle at the beach. The sun is bright. ☀️🏖️

The setting is the beach, on a sunny day.
